Hi :) I’m Juniper Stokes, the woman behind Alchemesssence.
I’m also a botanical alchemist, spiritual mentor, and teacher whose work restores the living bond between soul and nature.
I believe that cultivating a mythic and animist consciousness — what I call mythoanimism — is the key to meeting our current polycrisis with creativity and grace.
My synthesis of deep ecology and contemporary leadership offers a grounded approach to modern spiritual mentorship and education—one that honors both the mystery and the material of being human.
As a natural perfumer and ritualist, I create sacred aromatic blends that serve as bridges between worlds, supporting ceremony, initiation, and creative evolution.

My Influences
In sacred aromatics, I have formally trained and mentored with some of the preeminent natural perfumers working today, including Anya McCoy, Roxanna Villa, and Mindy Green. I have been a practicing aromatherapist for nearly two decades, completing a 610-hour clinical certification, and I continue ongoing study in Egyptian mysticism and aromatics with Egyptologist Dora Goldsmith and historical sensorium scholar Nuri McBride. My work in the Jade Purity Taoist anointing tradition is held through ongoing mentorship with Jessika Siorai and Tiffany Carole.
In healing arts, animism, spiritual leadership, and deep ecology, I have been studying, practicing, and teaching for over two decades — including a year-long coaching certification with Joanna Lindenbaum of the Institute for Sacred Depths, leadership training and ongoing mentorship with Jamie Wheal of the Flow Genome Project, advanced astrology and Hermetic magic with Merlin of The School of Heaven and Earth, and teacher trainings in shamanism, yoga, pranayama, and meditation. My primary teachers, however, are the spirits themselves: my ancestors, the plants and fungi, the goddesses and gods, and the myriad beings who support our journeys from beyond the veil.

Juniper Stokes, MA, is an animist, alchemist, and artist who offers an integrative pathway for awakening to your true essence through spiritual rewilding and sacred aromatics.
A lifelong student of consciousness and spirituality, Juniper has trained with energy healers, spiritual guides, and diverse spirit workers worldwide. She is a certified coach with the Institute of Sacred Depths and has completed professional teacher trainings in shamanism, yoga, and pranayama. Juniper also has extensive and ongoing training in meditation, alchemy, astrology, and magic.
As a botanical alchemist, Juniper has been a practicing aromatherapist for nearly two decades, completing a 610-hour clinical certification. She enjoys formal mentorship with the preeminent natural perfumer’s today and has completed a two-year herbalism program. For the past several years, Juniper has also studied plant communication, wildcrafting, and flower essences, apprenticing with both humans and the plants themselves. Her specialty, however, is the sacred art of anointing for healing and transformation.
Creativity and offerings of beauty are important elements of Juniper’s spiritual practice. She has a bachelor’s degree in studio art, and her mixed media paintings have been featured and sold in galleries both locally and internationally. By bringing together the art, aroma, and artistry of classical perfumery with spiritual alchemy, Juniper creates perfumes that offer transcendent fragrances and act as catalysts for the soul’s awakening. As an astrologer, Juniper bridges the classical approach of Hellenistic astrology with embodied shamanic and archetypal understandings. She writes the DailyOM monthly astrology newsletter, publishes in-depth articles at her Substack, and has a forthcoming set of planetary perfume oils planned for release in 2026.
Juniper’s lineage is strongly influenced by personal study with Jessika Siorai, Jamie Wheal, Tiffany Carole, Merlin Kenney, Anya McCoy, Roxanna Villa, Richard Miller, and many more. Her primary teachers, however, are the spirits themselves: her ancestors, the spirits of plants and fungi, galactic energies, and the myriad beings who support our journeys from beyond the veil.
Note: Juniper studied extensively in core shamanism and completed a two-year teacher training and became part of an “inner circle” with a famous teacher. Due to witnessing abusive behavior and control tactics that perpetuate harm across realms, Juniper stepped back as a teacher of that lineage. She cannot support or be seen to support false and harmful spiritual claims or teachings, nor can she ignore human level abuses.
Juniper has a strong commitment to maintaining integrity and ethics in plant medicine and spiritual trainings. She is a standing member of United Plant Savers and has committed to the code of ethics put forth by the Association for Spiritual Integrity.

Juniper has been teaching in one form or another for 30 years (starting with swimming lessons at a public pool!), including several years as university lecturer (5 years at a university in Tokyo; 6 years at the University of Colorado, Boulder; and 2 years at Eastern Washington University).
