This exhibition gathers perfumes, anointing oils, hydrosols, and plant sets for the dark half of the year, made by hand in small batches in Central Oregon. Four rooms, one season. It closes at the Winter Solstice, when the light turns back.

Inanna

A powdery white floral with a warm, resinous heart, Luna Moth is soft and enveloping — an invitation to slow down, soften, and dissolve into the sacred mystery of the night.
The luna moth lives her winged life entirely by moonlight, emerging from her cocoon transformed and radiant. She does not eat. She does not strive. She simply is — luminous, purposeful, and free. Angel anointing oils are perfumed and vibrational blends created in sacred ceremony. Direct transmissions from the angels themselves, they imbue divine light codes into anyone who works with these oils.
Azrael holds the pure vibrational essence of divine neutrality, a psychopomp who lovingly guides souls through transitions into other realms. Keep your ancestral oil on an altar dedicated to the ancestors.
Bless ancestral objects by rubbing a bit of the oil on them (if can be done without damaging the object).

Room III
The Poison Garden
Plants with dark reputations and long histories in folk magic, met through essence and story.
Nine essences for otherworld travels — threshold places and liminal spaces
Older English named the hedge witch a hedge-rider — someone who crosses the boundary at the edge of the settled world and comes back able to speak about what she found. These nine essences follow the whole arc of that crossing rather than only its opening.
Sacred datura, otherworld adventures (amanita m.), mugwort, and fairy trumpet open the way. Narcissus marks the descent, as Persephone learned while picking one. Rue turns back what should not follow, and mountain yarrow, whose dried stalks are still used to cast the I Ching, sharpens perception at the edge. Sacred flower (tobcco) makes the offering that crossing has always required. California poppy brings us home, and poses the question the practice depends on: whether we cross to meet the otherworld, or to escape our life in this one.
For anyone in dreamwork, divination, or animist or shamanic ceremony, these nine are reliable guides.

Spirit Flight Flower Essence Set

Every plant in this set can kill at a small dose, and every one of them has served as medicine within a long tradition. Hemlock and hellebore appear throughout Greek practice, aconite throughout Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, and foxglove gave modern cardiology digoxin. The difference between poison and remedy has always been dose, preparation, and relationship.

Indications: receiving support, relaxation and dreamwork, interdependence, connection with earth spirits
None of these three plants makes chlorophyll. Ghost pipe, pine drops, and gnome flower draw nourishment through fungi linked to the roots of surrounding trees, living on gifts passed from tree to fungus to flower beneath the forest floor.
Ghost pipe, white as candle wax, helps our nervous system relax and opens us to dreamwork. Pine drops sends up a sticky rust-red stalk that stands through the winter, helping us receive support from community, land, and unexpected sources. Gnome flower grows in low pinkish clusters half-buried in the duff, and as the name suggests, helps us connect with the spirits of the earth.
Together, these essences help us receive without shame, the way every tree, fungus, and flower in a healthy forest gives and receives. For anyone in a fallow or depleted season, these three are kindred company.

Mycelial Kin Flower Essence Set
Monotropa uniflora
SETTLED SENSES & DREAM SIGHT
Common names: Ghost Plant, Corpse Plant, Ice Plant, Fairy Smoke, Convulsion Root
Indications: sensitivity and overwhelm, deep relaxation, dreamwork and dream recall
Ghost pipe rises from decaying leaf litter white as candle wax. The plant makes no chlorophyll and draws nourishment instead from fungi linked to the roots of surrounding trees.
Herbalists have long used ghost pipe for spasms, seizures, and pain, which is where the name convulsion root comes from. The essence eases our nervous system out of bracing against sound, light, and other people’s moods. Ghost pipe blackens at the slightest touch and makes a natural ally for anyone who feels every sensation at full strength.
In dreamwork, ghost pipe helps us sink into sleep and rise again with guidance. The urn-shaped flower makes the same movement, hanging face-down in bloom and turning skyward as the seed ripens. Excellent as the last dose before bed.
