The Hunt
Perfumes for the Longest Nights
In the folklore of northern Europe, the Wild Hunt thunders through the dark weeks around Yule. It’s a ghostly host of riders, hounds, and beasts, with Odin at its head and, in the old night-ride tales, the huntress beside him. Farmers left the last sheaf of grain in the field for his horse. Sensible people stayed indoors.
I’ve never been one for staying indoors. These six are the allies I’d want running beside me through a long winter: smoky, resinous, warm, and a little feral. Each is a full composition in its own right. Together, they’re the whole hunt in one box.
The six
gourmand, tobacco, cognac, wood
Enter the mysterious realms or the Norse all-father, where wisdom and mystery dance upon a decadent feast of indulgence. Rich cognac, oak, and tobacco are grounded with earth and wood, elevated with a touch of sweet spice. Traditionally masculine, yet ultimately a sensual aroma for all genders.

Odin’s wolves, Geri and Freki, run at his heel. Hemlock, juniper, and dark forest floor.

Odin’s berserkers wore the bear’s skin into battle. This one would rather doze by the fire, wrapped in cocoa, smoke, and sweet fir.
