Scent rarely has a place in these practices.

Anointing is a soul-to-soul transmission of frequency from plant to human. Learning to give and receive this transmission is vibrational medicine, a way of beauty, an ancestral inheritance, and, in time, a service you can offer others.
Fragrance moves us toward coherence — our thoughts, actions, and beliefs coming back into alignment with the essence of our soul.
We shift ourselves into higher states of consciousness.

We call in our manifestations, callings, creative projects, relationships, and new life work by creating the energetic foundation that makes them possible.
The plants attune us to the frequency we want to hold, to the field we're calling in. This is magic and medicine that makes us more capable of creative leadership in wild times.
Sacred Aromatics Foundations brings this missing piece into the practices you already love. Over six weeks, we anoint, burn sacred resins, meet five plant allies in depth, and explore aroma as alchemy, rooted in the traditions of East and West.
An personal letter from me to you — and why I created this program.
Maybe you've been anointing for years.
Maybe you've looked up a holy anointing oil recipe, or read every book on sacred oils you could find, or tried to figure out what on earth “seven sacred oils” refers to.
And, just maybe, you noticed everything you find stops just short of the depths you're seeking.
The truth is, there really isn't a lot out there on the art and practice of sacred aromatics.
There are plenty of trainings in aromatherapy and perfumery…but those don't explore the sacred, ritual, historical, and soul-level transformation that is the focus of this program.
There are very few anointing programs that I know of, and they tend to be devoted to a single tradition, like the Gnostic Christian path of the myrrhophore or ancient Egyptian temple practice.
Others cover a few basics, such as how to connect with an oil and place it on the energy body, but the rest of the training is about personal growth through anointing rather than the aromatic practice itself.
All of the above are beautiful offerings — yet they often leave folks with this sense that there's more.
Can you relate? It's like you know something is missing, but it's so far removed from our current cultural moment that you can't even start to articulate this inner hunger.
At least, that's how I felt in my early years with aromatic plants.
I did all the things — Got my 610hr clinical aromatherapy certification. Studied professional natural perfumery with multiple leading perfumers. Read whatever I could on chakras and oils and planetary associations and energetics…
And I still felt like I wasn’t getting to the depths of what the art and practice of sacred aromatics really is.
So I had to create a new path. I studied shamanism and Western esoteric traditions. Meditation, channeling, and the oracular arts. Energy healing and Daoist alchemy.
Eventually, the two paths converged — the intensive aromatic studies and the spiritual trainings creating a practice both new and ancient.
Which brings me to what this training really is, and why it's sooo different from anything else out there…
The Pillars of Our Practice
AKA, why This is sooo different from anything else out there…
We start with an animist, ecological ground
We meet the plants as living, spiritual, conscious allies who have undergone an alchemical process to become sacred aromas, a process they can guide us through, too.
We turn towards the ancestors
We investigate the true aromatic rituals of ancient temple tenders and myrrh-bearers, the pharmakon that bridged art and spirit and healing, and the cultural contexts that created these practices.
We work with energy fields
We go beyond our own emotional process into the highly complex fields of energy that create us, our spaces, and our lives. We learn to shift these fields into greater coherence through true botanical alchemy.
In short, this isn't a program focused just on personal growth, a few essential oils, or an anointing practice that feels good but lacks depth.
This is a program that dives into the ecological, ancestral, spiritual, and energetic art of partnering with scent for total soul-level transformation, for yourself and the greater systems you live within.
Life Between our Circles
Each Wednesday, we gather live for two hours to smell, anoint, burn resin, and meet the week's plant ally together. I'm a channel, and when we gather live, the plants and spirits teach through me. Our circles feel as much like ceremony as class.
Between circles, we anoint daily with the week's ally to tend our fields: attuning ourselves each morning, clearing our spaces, and anointing the altars, journals, and tools of our creative projects and callings. We record what we notice along the way.
If two hours on Wednesdays is all you have, that's enough. Come to circle, anoint for a moment on mornings when you can, and save the optional materials (about 1-2 hours a week) for whenever you have space. Your access never expires, so you are free to go at your own pace.

A bridge to spirit
Sacred aromatics have offered humans a bridge between the spiritual and the physical for millennia.
Temples around the world are filled with fragrant smoke.
Statues of the gods wake through anointing with oil.
The dead are surrounded with aromatic resins to help their souls travel onward.
In an ancient Egyptian origin story, the universe was born from the fragrance of the sacred lotus.
This is the medicine of our ancestors, and almost every one of us has been severed from it: we inherited a world of synthetic fragrance and have lost the nose that knows what is true.
Sacred Aromatics Foundations is where we return and rewild our way back into our aromatic birthright.
Your Guide
I’m Juniper Stokes, a botanical perfumer, clinically trained aromatherapist, herbalist, and teacher of sacred aromatics. I blend every anointing oil in the Foundations kit and distill the juniper hydrosol myself.
For more than three decades, I have studied the ways humans enter into relationship with plants: through scent, ritual, healing, ceremony, art, and direct experience. I have spent thirteen years working professionally with botanical perfume (over two decades as a hobbyist) and have completed a 610-hour clinical aromatherapy training, alongside formal herbalism study and ongoing mentorship in natural perfumery and alchemical anointing.
My teachers and influences span botanical perfumery, aromatherapy, plant medicine, Taoist alchemical healing, energy anatomy, mediumship, and ecospiritual practice. I have studied with and been mentored by teachers including Roxanna Villa, Anya McCoy, Mindy Green, Tiffany Carole, Jessika Siorai, and others whose work has shaped my understanding of scent and the living world.
Sacred aromatics is where these paths meet.
This work is my own synthesis. I care deeply about historical accuracy, ethical sourcing, material safety, and direct experience. I also believe that a plant can teach us something no textbook can provide — once we have learned how to listen.
I teach sacred aromatics because this relationship changed my life. And because I would like more of us to reclaim our birthright of aromatic medicine, beauty, and knowledge.

No. You are always welcome to source your own oils, or to join with no oil at all — inviting the spirit of the plant into your field is enough. The kit provides you with everything you need in one set, with me having done the sourcing for high quality materials for you :) Plus, it include my own alchemically distilled juniper berry hydrosol while supplies last!

The kit contains all the aromatics you’ll need. If you don’t purchase the kit, you’ll want to source your own essential oils, bottles, and carrier oils — the course platform will have a full breakdown of sourcing recommendations.
To join our work with sacred smoke, you’ll need a safe way to burn resin: a charcoal round in sand or a dedicated burner, or an electric resin burner. Instructions will be covered in class, and your platform will have sourcing recommendations.
That said, you are always welcome to participate energetically only, and source supplies later if you feel called.

Absolutely — it’s called foundations for a reason ;) By starting here you’ll cultivate a foundation for lifelong learning that even folks with tons of years under their belts often lack.

I highly doubt it. I’ve never encountered a synthesis like the one I offer before, in any of my three decades of research and study. Yes, this is foundational, but it's also a unique, transformative initiation. Even if you’ve trained in anointing before, I think you’ll find something new here. Plus, the live calls will let you ask me questions about your own practice – an invaluable opportunity to go deeper.

No. Foundations does not certify you to work with clients. The practitioner path of sacred aromatics is real — and it begins with this program — but the training to actually work with other humans continues elsewhere.

Not in Foundations. Blending is its own art and its own course. Foundations gives you the relationship and the practice, which allows the making workshops to unfold directly into greater artistry and depth.

Every advanced and specialized course at Nectar & Alchemy assumes a shared foundation: the relational language, energy awareness, the anointing practice, and an understanding of what sacred aromatics actually is. Rather than repeat that ground in every intensive, we lay it once, together, in Foundations.
Many single topic workshops and our monthly Rewilding the Temple ceremonies remain open to everyone with no prerequisite at all.

Every circle is recorded and posted within 24 - 48 hours. The live experience is richer and encouraged, but you will still be able to participate fully if you watch the replays.

Yes. We cover safety, contraindications, and dosage carefully. If you are pregnant, nursing, allergic, or under medical supervision, consult your health provider before using any plant medicines or topicals. The course teaches safe, conservative anointing protocols and offers alternatives when necessary.
Sacred Aromatics Foundations is educational and devotional in nature. Nothing taught here is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and none of these statements has been evaluated by the FDA. Essential oils are not for internal use in this course. If you are pregnant or nursing, living with a health condition, or taking medication, please consult your healthcare provider before using any aromatic material. Always patch test a new oil before anointing.
